1893 J.O. Marchand Numismatist Card, Breton-636, Leroux-1074d.

CA$90.00
Sold Out

White Metal. 28mm. 9.0 grams. J.O. Marchand was a Montreal coin collector who put out several different tokens. According to P.N. Breton, 223 of these pieces were issued. The dies were engraved by C. Tison. This is a deeply proof like example with as-made die damage at 11 o’clock on the obverse.

The obverse design features a beaver above a coat of arms showing a cornucopia overflowing with coins and the year 1893 on a diagonal band. JE CHERCHE appears on a ribbon below, and the entire design is engulfed by a wreath of maple tied by a bow at 6 o’clock. The reverse design is self-explanatory, with the collector’s name, a description of what he collects, and the city in which he resides.
