.900 Fine Silver. 50mm. 66.8 grams. Paris Mint Cornucopia Privy Mark (1880-present), 2ARGENT. This silver award medal by J. Marley was issued by L’Union, a French private insurance company founded on October 5, 1828 in Paris. The company was initially involved with providing coverage against fire damage but later branched out, covering diverse risks.

The obverse depicts a wonderfully rendered scene of Place Vendome in Paris. The inscription in the field reads: “TO MR. / MOSTYN LEWIS / 1948. The reverse shows a wreath tied with ribbon around the borders. The legend includes the company name (L’Union), a description of services offered, and the date and location of founding.

Smooth silver surfaces show golden accents. There are no abrasions and just a touch of friction over the high points.
